Michelle McGaw was elected in 2020 to Represent District 71, which encompasses Northern Portsmouth, Southern Tiverton, and all of Little Compton. Michelle has lived in Portsmouth, RI for over 30 years raising a family, volunteering, and working as a pharmacist in elder care.

Michelle serves on:

  • the House Environment and Natural Resources Committee

  • the House Health and Human Services Committee

  • the House State Government and Elections Committee

  • the House Corporations Committee 


Michelle is also a member of the Portsmouth Democratic Town Committee, has served on the Portsmouth Solid Waste and Recycling Committee, the Portsmouth Charter Review Committee, and the board for the RI Democratic Women’s caucus. Michelle was involved in youth recreation and local little league baseball for many years.

Michelle has been active at the Rhode Island State House advocating for better climate policy, protection of reproductive rights, improvements to healthcare and for increased participation in our state government.
